Heated gloves

Gloves based on the proven Polartec Windbloc® material are very warm even without heating elements. Thanks to good insulation and excellent moisture wicking to the outside, they effectively protect the diver’s hands from heat loss. Even if the gloves are switched off after a water ingress, they offer significant protection against the cold. The heating system is based on heating elements in two independent circuits – one for the fingers and one for the back of the hand and wrist. The separation of the circuits offers the possibility of performance optimization. The maximum power per glove remains at a maximum of 20 watts, with 0.6 W needed for the rest of the glove for every 1 watt on the fingers. Performance depends on the size of the glove, so the heat generated per square centimeter is comparable across sizes. The heating element is placed close to the inside to keep the majority of the heat generated on the hands

The gloves are protected against short circuits by a fuse. The fuse is easy to replace because it is located on the cable in the distribution block, which transmits the power to both gloves. If you use the heated gloves as a supplement to a heated Kwark undersuit, the fuse is located in the distributor block of the undergarment.

The gloves are slightly extended at the wrist so that this area can warm up well from both above and below.

Putting on the gloves is very easy. About 35 to 38 cm of the power cable should protrude from the drysuit’s cuff. Hold the cable plug leading out of the glove between your thumb and index finger. The cable coming out of the drysuit is now lightly wrapped around the wrist and the two plugs are connected. The plugs need to be connected fully, to achieve impermeability in accordance with IP67. For this reason, you must hold the plugs properly if you want to disconnect them again. This is easy to manage even with gloves on. Be careful not to bend or pull on the cables. Give the cable wrapped around the wrist some room to prevent tearing and deformation, thus extending the service life. The accompanying video shows how to put on the gloves. Excess cable can be pulled into the drysuit, rolled in loops around the box and attached there.

The gloves can be washed by hand by first connecting the gloves to the supply cables and then washing the hands in the gloves with soap. The gloves must not be wrung out, thrown or squeezed out. If necessary, you can place the gloves between two towels and pat them dry. The gloves are delivered in a transport bag and, depending on the version, with a supply cable.
